It's been some time since the main page has seen an update. I'd like to think that's because we've worked out most of the kinks, and over time the system needs less work, but there indeed have been changes. The Questing Guide has been updated and reorganized. Official RPs have a more solid system behind them, and you can now freely apply for them in the Hunter's Guild. Furthermore odd jobs are now worth more, Epic quests are gone and replaced with the more open and rewarding consecutive quests, and lastly the whole thing has been better organized with clear listings and divisions between sections for easier reading and reference. Enjoy.

There have been some major changes. Specifically involving the page concerning Questing and RP. You'll notice a few gameplay changes and new gameplay modes available including the entirely new Official RP option, which some of you story heavy players may enjoy. Be sure to read thoroughly. There have also been some udpates to Alchemist, Occultist, Tamer, and Warlock. The money system has been updated with a player bounty for recruiting new players, and the join section has a new entry for zoanthropes and halflings.

Staff applications are open. CVD previously contacted potential staff members privately, however the size of the site and need for active staffers had reached the point where we need more staff than the "don't call us, we'll call you." policy can cover. In order to apply to staff PM board username "Drake" (no quotations) with your application which should be at least one paragraph describing your reason for wanting to be staff. Include any past experience you have in working staff at other RPGs, include links if possible. Tabletop and LARP experience is also accepted. You do not need to have been a staffer before to apply. If you have writing and/or RP experience you may make a good QM as well. Include links to any writing or RP you think provides a good example of your abilities. We need active staffers. If you think you're a good candidate, then by all means try. If you're not accepted, you can always try again later.

As promised it has finally come. Flaw reform is here. Everyone please check the "join" section and read up on the new rules. For the sake of avoiding exess edits, no one currently registered is required to edit their flaws right now, but will need to change their bio to be in line with the new rules the next time they edit.

Today we have one, single exceedingly important update. Go check the combat system, and scroll to the bottom for the new "DEFEAT" system, featuring what we all hope to be a cure for the problem of character death. Now we have a means of losing without dying, and hope everyone will embrace it. Everyone needs to read this so go take a look.

In addition however we also have some other revisions.

  • Warlocks have had an update to clear up how to use double casting and spell matrix.
  • Necromancers have received an even bigger beefing. The way we see it if you want to sell your soul for power you should get something worth the price.
  • Dark Lord Candidate is now a species under the human heading.

02/21/2008
A few updates have been made today. The join section has had a few teaks and improvements for the sake of clarity. The fighting system received a small rewording to emphasize defense and a few more rulings regarding what godmoding is. Necromancers have had a big reworking with a new quality (sphere of influence) which will be central to playing as a necromancer, and the means by which a necromancer gains more servants has totally been changed. Brutes have a new quality "brutal blows" which I don't think NEEDS to be stated, but sometimes it's needed to cover the obvious. Swordsmen may now devise two special moves at the end of an epic level quest. This is retroactive for swordsmen.

Questing has been updated with clarified difficulty levels.

A Murdurous Christmass, Horrific Chaunaka, Fiery Festivus, and a Hellish new year to you all. CVD has updated with some important new additions.

    First of all.
  • Reputation system has been updated with Dominant Reputations and Overriding Reputations.
  • The time system has been updated and clarified.
  • As staff is now tracked in the forum, the staff page has been removed.
  • The members link now points to the much more up to date Registered Characters forum.
  • Warlocks have received some serious rebalancing. You must now choose between double casting or Spell Matrix. they are however unlocked the same way. If you've already unlocked double casting and would rather have Spell Matrix, you may trade them once. A large amount of other balancing and clarification has been made to Warlocks so please read.
  • Craftsman has been updated with new abilities and qualities.
  • one new quality for mercenaries. Actually this is an obvious one that SHOULD have already been there.

Lastly I'd like to add. Everyone gets a free fruitcake. Fruitcake is rougly the size and density of a masonry brick. Actually a bit MORE dense. If you choose to eat it, one mouthfull has the callories to nourish an average man for one day. If your teeth survive.

I do hope everyone has enjoyed their thanksgiving. The holiday has provided some much needed time to impliment the latest round of updates.
First off the bat, there is a new class available. The Judasari.
There has been a slight change to alchemists at the tail end of the alchemic spellcasting section, regarding ingredients.
Slayers and Occultists have recieved a new holy weapon. Silver Stakes. These will be sold separately at the church for an additional 10G. On top of that ANYONE may use Silver Stakes, however they'll be most effective in the hands of a Slayer or Occultist. The weapons guide has been updated regarding holy weapons.
Seers have had their limitations changed from quest based to time based to allow for more versetile gameplay.
The warlock/Witch bio has been updated with a new ability: "Dealbreaker"
Mentalist has been updated with a new ability: "all rounder"
Lastly being thanksgiving, everyone gets a free turkey leg. Enjoy. nomnomnom.

09/12/2007
We've updated again. The magic system has had some revisions. To reflect the introduction of the accolyte class with the last update, Holy Magic has been moved into playable magic. Sorcery has had a total rewrite, and the description of how to use it has been mostly moved into the sorcerer class bio. All sorcerers need to read this revision, and update their sigs. If you're playahg a sorcerer who's already leveled up, just add your level ups to both your latent and internal casting capacity together to your new single Casting Capacity stat.
Witchcraft has also been updated, with a rough guide to double casting. the Warlock/witch bio has been updated with a new abillity "Spell Matrix". While this was possible already the written information gives it a more concrete system.
Brute has a new quality "intimidation"
problems with the mentalist class have been fixed.
New monsters have been added. "Eater", "White Zombie", and "Jackalope".
Lastly, it's been a while since we added a new playable species. And now there are two new halflings. "Half Beast" (for you goddam furries) and "Wild Man".

05/09/2007
It's been some time since the last update, and the staff has been hammering out the finer points of the various systems that make up CVD. The biggest change is how you join the site, so I'll cover it here as well. Now in addition to completing the forum signup sheet, you must also email an admin and notify them that you wish to join, at which point the admin will manually approve your registration. Remember that you MUST include your registered forum name in the email.

Now on to the other updates.

  • Lycanthropes have been almost totally rewritten, and hopefully made a little easier to understand. There have been some rule changes as well. Kli>
  • Sorcerers have had a rewrite on their description.
  • Black Souls have recieved a minor change.
  • Witchcraft has recieved a major change. Please read the allignment guide. Witches and Warlocks will now reach max level faster but overall carry fewer sigils at higher level, This is in order to balance them and bring more veriety into the game by forcing withcraft users to specialize more as they go higher, also meaning that no two Warlocks will be the same.
  • There are three new sigils, El'Arihril, Ziz, and Inle. Please take a look.
  • The story has been updated to reflect backstory revealed in the recent game Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.

12/25/2006
Merry Chrstimas, and a happy whatever the hell else you celebrate. I've done some updating to cover a few things overlooked in the previous update. Zoanthropes have been updated, there are now more legendary monsters, occultists have a new abillity, mentalists have a new quality, marksmen as a sub class have been clarified, and a new sigil has been added to replace one that was.....less interesting. On top of that since it's a holiday, let's share the love. All players get a free 10G and are invited to the tavern for eggnog.

12/10/2006
Huge update today. It's been a long time in the works.

  • Alchemist has been updated with new abillities.

There have been some changes, so everyone needs to look closely. Most importantly our method of archiving members has changed. From now on the members page will no longer be updated. Rather the forum will be used for archiving. When a bio is aproved, it's the job of the player to compose all posts made in that bio, into a single post and repost it into the "Registered Characters" forum. It will be checked by the staff for accuracy then locked until it needs updating. If you need to modify it later you can post flaws and additions to be made in character apps again, then your bio will be unlocked briefly for you to make updates when they're aproved. This means if you're a player and haven't done this yet you need to move your bio into the Registered Characters section. That said on with the updates that have been made.
Rune guide has been updated with some changes to spells available and a new darkrune has been added.
New monster section has been added, "Legendary Monsters" The likes of Death and big bad Drac are here.

07/01/2006
The forum is back up. Everyone thank Isaac for fixing it so quickly after his return from Peru. Also take a look around. A few new monsters have been added.
The following classes have also been updated with new abillities in hopes of ballancing the late game. Craftsman, Marksman, Swordsman, Slayer, Tamer, and Agent.

Forum Troubles
Currently the forum is having some database problems. This may take a while, as long as a week. Please keep checking back. We'll have it running again as soon as we can.

02/15/2006
First major update of the new year.

  • A few tweaks to the bios of some of the extra planar monsters have been added.
  • The magic system has been updated regarding Egyptian magic which has been renamed to Arcane magic. This is to provide more freedom in the storyline. Those building a story based on it, don't worry. The Egyptians still used it.
  • Marksmen and Archers have been updated with new abillities.
  • Aristocrat has been updated
  • Alchemist has been updated with a more clarified casting system.
  • A new Dark Rune has been added. Devk'Ahn (reject).
  • Warlock/Witch has been updated with a new quality and better descriptions regarding dual casting, spell blending, and written casting.
  • Necromancers received two new qualities. That's it for this update.

12/21/2005
Hellish Christmass everyone, I bring with me the madness that unbinds mind and sanity. In other words updates a plenty.

  • Swordsmen can now start with armor and one special move. learning special moves has also been simplified.
  • Fistfighters have a new quality and a new abillity.
  • Brutes have some ugpradable abillities and qualities now.
  • a new dark rune has been added and warlocks/witches have been updated in regards to rune corruption.
  • a new class Seaman/pirate/privateer has been added.
  • Dracula has been given a proper monster listing.
  • Two new extra planar monsters, Malachi, and old ones have been added.
  • Finally an announcement. In the interest of gaining more players to make CVD even better we're creating a bounty system. For every person you convince to join CVD you get gold. You get 10g if they create a character and another 40g if they join a quest or participate in a major RP. So if you bring an active CVD member to us you get 50g total.

That's all for today. Happy hollidays, and happy slaying.

11/30/2005
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Some updates today. Alchemists and Tamers have been updated. Man Beasts and Lycanthropes in respect to the change to the Tamer class have also been updated. Three new classes of monsters have been added. Vampires, Forbidden Ones, and Humans. That's all for today.

10/28/2005
Happy Halloween everyone. Okay so it's a little early but who cares. CVD has a few updates today.

  • Story overhauled. The backstory has more accurate dates and more closely resembles the official US konami timeline. I had to make a few changes however in order to have Dracula reflect the historic Vlad Tepes.
  • A new system has been added. Cooking is now available. Adding an optional collectable element to the game you can collect recipies, and whip up some chow. Heheh I said whip.

Because it's halloween I'm giving everyone a little something extra. CANDY! Everyone add one bag of candy to your inventory.
That's it for now. New stuff coming soon.

08/20/2005
A huge update comes today, and you'll see some play mechanics added along with it so check carefully.

  • The alignment guide has been updated with three new black sigils. minor edits have been made to some of the older sigils adding more depth.
  • Story has been updated to reflect the story of Harmony of Dissonance, as well as a deepened story for castlevania adventure reflected in the official comic by IDW.
  • Character creation has been updated to reflect that you can not start with armor, shields count as weapons, and that on occasion we may give rewards for well written bios.
  • Two new playable specis have been added under ghosts, new monsters have been added under Undead, Cursed, Extra Planar, and Hell-Spawned.
  • The magic system has been updated with a far more detailed explanation of necromancy and the option of Necromancy drawing power from beings other than Ik'Tulthu allowing for more versetility in RP. All necromancers need to read this and list what Black Deity they draw their power from.
  • Tamers have been updated. Botony is now a quality, and the quality Zoology has been added.
  • A slight change has been made to the Warlock/Witch bio to close a loophole.
  • The questing page under systems has been updated with the inclusion of a reputation system. You should check the forum to see if you have a reputation.
  • The Alchemist class bio has been updated with a detailed description of alchemic spellcastic.
  • A new class has been added "Merchant"
  • Tamer and Occultists have been reclassified as science classes since they're very knowledge centric.
  • the "other" category has been renamed to "professional." I'm aware that marksman is stretching it, but we are talking about an era where being a "Pistolier" was considered a job in its self.
  • Look up at the top of the page. See that banner? Thank Viktor of "Grimcon productions" for that.

Check carefuly, something here likely affects you.

06/22/2005

03/09/2005
A smaller update today, consisting of things I missed before mostly. There's been a small update to the character creation guide regarding weapons, the monster list has had two new additions, the magic system has had updates regarding non playable magic, and a clarification on the magic circles used in witchcraft, mentalist had a clarification I really should have cought earlier, the necromancer has been updated to clarify zombies and skeletons, sorcerers have also been updated with a new abillity and new quality. All sorcerers need to read this and update your sigs accordingly.

02/28/2005
A large number of updates have been made including some rule revisions.

  • Character creation page has been updated with a new feature. The flaw system. Click "Join" to check it out. This is a retroactive rule so those of you who already have a character can add a flaw later. Just go to the character creation forum. If your name hasn't gone up already then edit and bump up the topic in which you originally applied. Those of you who've been here longer and have your bios on the main site make a new topic with your name as it appears on the bio page exactly followed by the word "Flaw"
  • The swordsman bio has been updated to reflect a change in the special moves that can be aquired. swordsmen read it over.
  • The species/monster list has had numerous creatures added, and vampires have been revised.
  • A new dark rune has been added. Check out the "tehr" (Materialize rune) and a bunch of spells to go with it.
  • If you haven't seen it already there have been price drops in the marketplace.
That's it for now. New ways to kill baddies and new baddies to kill you.

01/10/2005
Happy new year Castlevaniacs. There's been a few minor updates today. the money system has been updated to mention the birthday rule. If you've had a bday since joining the site this applies to you too. The Warlock/Witch info has been changed regarding double casting. Go read. Two new links have been added for refference purposes. That's all for today.

12/25/2004
Merry Christmas everyone. Your present is a nice big update. Some balancing has been done with man beasts but it shouldn't have any effect on current players. Tamers, warlocks, and alchemists all got new abillities and you'll need them because the species list has been updated with monsters to kill you. A few changes have been made to indicate that lycanthropes are playable from the outset. Also a small change on ghosts, which can now posess living people, and Wights have been added to playable species. The magic system has also been updated with a whopping three new sigils, improved description on the existing sigils, as well as the new dark rune, and a change for you sorcerers out there. The bad news is there's no longer neutral magic. Everything has an alignment now. You want neutrality go with silver. The good news is now you can choose a default magic alignment that you can always return to. Do list it in your sig when you read this. Finally an assload of new character bios have been uploaded. Now if you'll excues me I have some xmas dinner leftovers to dig into.

11/29/2004
The classes have been updated. You may now choose an Aristocrat or Mentalist. The species guide has been updated to reflect restrictions in these classes. The speciese guide has also been updated to allow Dampiels to become craftsmen, to allow players to start as lycanthropes, and to allow for playing as a vampire.

11/13/2004
A small update was made today. A slight change in dampiel restrictions. They are now allowed to be agents but not occultists. As a player pointed out to me, it just plain makes more sense that way. The monster list has been reorganized a bit. Finally the join section had been updated to allow multiple playable characters as well as a slight clarification on rules regarding weapons.

10/31/2004
Happy Halloween. Didn't think we'd let this pass without an update. The following updates have been made.
Tamer: Clarified quest requirements for abillities
Warlock/Witch: Double Casting has been added
alignment guide: Two of the tier 2 alignments got different names for roleplay reasons. Some spelling errors were fixed and there were some important changes to the tier 3s you should all read.
marksman: marksman and archer reloading abillities were changed slightly to reflect a staff agreed upon limit.
necromancer: minor changes. minions which unanimate by running out of magic can be reanimated. Limits were placed on abillity grown of liches.
Occultist: Added new qualities.
Slayer: two new item crashes added
sorcerer: Minor addition to the description
Staff: Kia promoted to Admin Richard added to staff.
Rune Guide: BIG UPDATE HERE. A complete list of every spell castable and the various runes that create these spells is now present.

10/12/2004
Happy October my fellow creepy people. A site update has been made. Eis modified his bio, the story has been updated with a timeline which covers much of the Castlevania official story as well as the backstory original to CVD. This should erase any doubt that Lament of Innocense NEVER HAPPENED. The Magic system has been updated. Acutally this is a fix of a major oversight I made. It covers the abillity of warlocks and witches to cast spells in written form. This was always meant to be part of the magic systme I just overlooked it until now. The tamer class has been updated with an awsome new abillity. Finally the warlocka nd witch class bio has been updated to clarify their use of magical sight. There have also been forum updates you should go see. Last but not least say hello and give respects and candy to our newest staffer, Richard Phoenix. He's very active on the forums and should breathe some life into questing and RPing.

07/28/2004
Four new members have had their bios added. Ramier, Adari, Alec, and Conan. In addition the necromancer bio has been updated yet again. You necros will like this one as a new abillity has been added to make them more versetile. The magic guide has been updated with five non-playable magic types to further the story, and two new monsters have been added on the species list, Automaton and Hydra. Other than some bio edits including a pic in Kia's bio that's all for now.

06/38/2004
Some updates all around today. Images have been added for the remaining job classes. Some minor spelling errors have been fixed on several pages. There's been a change in the character aps guide. This won't effect anyone currently but now there's a limit to 3 weapons for starting. Questing has also been updated with a little more info on food. The brute class has had some minor tweaks in realtion to this. The species list has been updated with more in depth information on Man-Beasts and a new type of monster has been added, Floaters. Also Dyne's bio has been added, correcting my mistake with the last update. Dyne has also been added to the staff page.

06/30/2004

A number of updates all around today. First of all the staff page has been updated to reflect the entire staff as of current. However full contact info isn't listed yet. This will be updated after I've contacted each of them for further info and weather or not they want to make their contact information public.

More player related updates. If you will look in the systems area you'll find a map has been added to the bottom. I encourage you all to look it over thuroughly. Thanks go to Kia for creating this map. Remember though not everything there is will appear on this map. This is only what's known to exist by the guild.

Images have been added for the swordsman, witch/warlock, marksman/archer, alchemist, and craftsman bios for extra flavor. Mmmmmm tasty.

It should also be noted that the Necromancer bio has been updated again. It's important that all necromancers read as it deals with the capacity to become a Lich.

And on top of all that I finally updated the members listing. All aproved players should be listed. If I missed you let me know.

05/24/2004
The classes guide has been updated. A spell check on the Alchemist. It's been sorted out a little better for easier reading. Also check the species guide. Dampiels have been updated, as have lycanthropes, and Liches. Also several new monsters have been added. And if you've been living under a rock Quests have started.

05/07/2004
A quick update. Thanks to our new staff member Kia there's a new class to choose from, Alchemist. Oh and I guess I should mention that Kia is our latest staffer. I'll update the staff page later. Members are already signed up and just so everyone knows you can start playing as soon as your character sheet is aproved, you don't have to wait for it to appear on the site. I'll update with new members most likely on a weekly basis.

05/06/2004
At long last the forums are up and the RPG has officially begun. Get a character sign up and start role playing. With this night let the sounds of disharmony commence.

05/02/2004
The members section has been added to list characters who've joined. Currently you'll only see my own character Graham Drake. I have decided to start taking character aplications by email until the forums are up so would be players can prepare. Also the weapons guide under systems has been updated with far more accurate information on available guns. Forums hopefully will be up within a week.

04/20/2004
Launch day! Disharmony is up. Forums will be operational shortly. Take a look around, consider joining. I hope this RPG will be successful as I've poured months of hard work into it. Once we've developed a comunity I think things will go nicely.

Disharmony does need your help though. I'll be looking for the better players to consider who would be good for quest master status, and artists I would like to ask for artwork to spice up the site. We need a banner up there and pics for the class bios would add some flavor as well. People with castlevania sites or other RPGs let's exchange links.
